Luke 10 Challenge - Benefits and Costs

| | |
Relationships: The relationships that you develop will benefit you as prepare to go overseas, spend the time overseas, and return. Your field missionary or field ministry will help to guide you as you minister overseas. They will be there to help you along the way, guiding you through the culture, through the work, and assisting you. You will be paired with a teammate who will be there with you encouraging you through the work. The Luke 10 Coordinator and Seattle office staff will be working with you and praying for you as you prepare to go and while you are overseas.
Cost Requirement and Flexible Cost Benefit: We will work with you to prepare a personal budget including the outgoing costs as well as the monthly costs for both personal and ministry expenses. Outgoing costs include airfare, visa, secure e-mail account, training, insurance, and other expenses that need to be covered before departure. Monthly costs can include housing, personal spending, ministry expenses and other monthly costs.
What do we mean by a "flexible budget and cost requirement"? It means that we will discuss with you your individual financial needs and prepare a budget accordingly. It also means that we will help you with some tools to raise your personal support and budget. At the same time it means that you are fully responsible, in dependence upon the Lord, for your total costs during the program.
We will process contributions to your account and issue tax-deductible receipts with a six percent administrative fee, which is less than our normal administrative fee. We will help you estimate your total costs and pray and plan with you for the financial provisions. We will want to see, before departure for overseas, that your financial expectations are realistic and that there is evidence of the Lord's provision.
Commitment to the total 3-9 month program: While shorter placements are available, the typical Luke 10 placement is nine months from the end of training until the group debrief back in Seattle the following June. Extensions past this date, or further overseas ministry, will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
References: As part of the application process we will ask for two written references, one of which must be from a pastor in your home/sending church. We want to make sure that your church family and your natural family are supportive of your participation in this outreach.
Travel/Health Insurance: We are working hard to keep requirements and costs to a minimum. Overseas travel and health insurance, however, is one of the requirements that must be paid before departure at a cost of $1.25 to $2.00 per day unless you have evidence of your own coverage. |
