Background

Objective: The objective of the Luke 10 Challenge is to give you an opportunity to grow in faith and to experience God while experiencing overseas missions. This is an opportunity toexperience missions, culture, and language learning in a "real-life" setting for an extended time.

How the Vision Formed: We are convinced that God has His hands of anointing on the current generation of young people, many of whom are fully dedicated to world evangelism in their generation. Many seem to be "doers" and "risk-takers" for the Lord. How do we help channel this energy into effectively reaching the unreached peoples of the world? How do we work with this growing army of young people?

Our conclusion is that if we continue to ask these young people to conform to the parameters and "rules" of the older generations, most of them will simply pass us by and serve the Lord in other ways. Our policies and regulations and requirements, no matter how informal or flexible they might be, are simply more "red-tape" than many of this generation want to work with.

Yet, at the same time, they are asking for guidance, for leadership, and for help and direction. They are not of such an independent spirit that they are not willing to work together. They understand and want accountability.

How can we encourage this dedication and calling of the Lord and not bridle it? The answer seems basic - we encourage and aid and stand back in some measure and let the Lord direct and provide and mold these dedicated lives. Do we dare throw aside our cautions and accumulated "wisdom" and trust the Lord to go before these called ones - even as He did so abundantly for the seventy-two?
