Vision

The Vision: We are convinced that God has His hands of anointing on the current generation of young people, many of whom are fully dedicated to world evangelism in their generation. Many seem to be "doers" and "risk-takers" for the Lord. How do we help channel this energy into effectively reaching the unreached peoples of the world? How do we work Luke 10with this growing army of young people?

The Model: In Luke chapter 10 Jesus sent out the 70 disciples in teams of two to every place where he was about to go. And he told them to pray for workers to serve in God's harvest field because the harvest was plentiful but the laborers were few. (Luke 10:1-2)

The harvest truly is plentiful among the nearly 2 billion people who have yet to hear the name of Jesus. So we send Luke 10 mission interns in teams of two (whenever possible), placing them under the supervision and mentoring of long-term missionaries. Our hope is that through this serving and learning by immersion, Luke 10 interns will catch a vision of the harvest today and their personal role in reaching unreached people groups. Long after their internships are over, we see these young people committed to building God's Kingdom through praying, giving, welcoming internationals and returning overseas as long-term missionaries.

The Cost: "He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain what he cannot lose." - Jim Elliot

There are risks and costs involved when we directly engage Satan in battle over the souls of those who have never heard the name of Jesus. Yet we willingly lay down our lives so that they may have life in Christ! For the Luke 10 intern this could mean enduring sickness and a hard bed, persevering through language learning and cultural blunders. It means submitting to your host missionary, serving and encouraging them even when it is not easy. It is a commitment to working through conflict and living at peace as much as it depends on you.

Laying down our lives means sacrificing our need for comfort, eating whatever is set before us and living at the same standard as the people we are trying to reach. And while striving to be wise and cautious, we allow God to direct us, not a pursuit of security. Why do we do it? For the renown of God's awesome name; so that people will encounter Jesus in us and not stumble over our pride or cultural baggage; so that the unreached can be reached!

The Reward: We yearn for Jesus, to know him and do his will. Our reward is to hear, "Well done, good and faithful servant" and to worship before his throne in heaven with a multitude representing every single people group on earth (Rev. 7:9). Will you come join us in the harvest?
